02. Panenska Tunnel, Motorway D8
Southern portal of Panenska tunnel is located directly at the end of Panenska bridge. Two separated tubes with lengths 2,021m and 2,001m each carry traffic in one way (same as Libouchec tunnel). New construction method that originated in Austria and is suitable for rock strata was utilized. Tube centerlines are parallel to each other with 21m offset. Both tubes are connected by perpendicular emergency pedestrian corridors at approximately every 200m. Speed limit in the tunnel is 80 kmh. Technical and emergency equipment was designed according to the newest technologies available - air ventilation systems, traffic control, fire protection, helipads and others.
